PM Modi rushes to Kollam fire mishap site

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive here by 3.30 pm with a team of burn specialist doctors from New Delhi. The Prime Minister has boarded a flight with a team of medical experts at around 11.30 am.  

 

Modi is expected to land at Thiruvananthapuram airport and then take a helicopter to Varkala or Kollam. According to information from Prime Minister's office, no official protocols will be followed upon his arrival. 

As soon as the tragedy struck, Prime Minister called Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy and assured all help to the state in the wake of the tragedy. 

 

Modi had directed Health Minister J P Nadda to reach the site of the mishap and asked the Air Force and Navy to assist in the rescue operations. The PM has announced Rs 2 lakh exgratia to the kin of deceased and Rs 50,000 for the critically injured.

PM will travel to Kerala in the wake of the fire in Kollam. He is constantly monitoring the situation & is in touch with officials.

BJP president Amit Shah cancelled all his public programs scheduled in Kerala for the day and visited the injured at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College in the morning. 

Meanwhile, as many as 78 persons who lost their lives in the fireworks mishap were identified so far.
