Sexual assault in Kerala again, 7-year-old raped
Synopsis
In yet another shocking incident of sexual assault in Kerala, a seven-year-old girl was allegedly raped in Ernakulam district.
The police have arrested Muhammed Ashiq, 22, victim's neighbour, based on the inputs provided by Childline officials.
The incident occurred in March and the girl was assaulted by a paint worker, at her house when the parents, both manual workers, were not at home.
The matter came to light after the parents noticed that the girl was unable to concentrate on her studies or sleep. An infection on the private parts of the child was also found.
The concerned parents then took the girl to Childline officials and it was during counselling that the girl revealed the horrific incident.
The police have registered a case under Section 5 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
