
In the wake of the stand off between lawyers and journalists that affected the functioning of courts in the state for the second day on Friday after a section of lawyers targetted media at Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram, Chief Justice TS Thakur intervened in the issue and promised to take steps to solve the problems. He termed the incidents as 'undesirable.'
The Chief Justice T S Thakur promised that the media room in the High Court, which was closed down by a group of lawyers on Wednesday, will be reopened. He also promised to take steps to ensure independent functioning of the media in courts.

Representatives of Kerala Union of Working Journalists visited Chief Justice on Friday and briefed him about the attack on media persons in Kerala. They submitted a memorandum explaining how a section of lawyers targetted journalists in the state.

After going through the memorandum, Chief Justice said that journalists and lawyers are integral part of the society. He entrusted Supreme Court judge Kurian Joseph and High Court Chief Justice to take steps to solve issues.
