Kerala journalist Anusree Pillai dies; relatives suspect medical negligence

Synopsis

Young  journalist Anusree Pillai, 31, passed away on Monday night at Pathanamthitta following a severe stomach pain. The untimely demise has triggered doubts of medical negligence. 

 

Anusree was Senior Copy Editor with 'Samayam' news portal of Times of India group. She swooned to death late night on Monday at a hospital in Pathanamthitta. After reporting uneasiness and stomach pain, she was taken to a private hospital nearby. She was soon shifted to a hospital at Kozhenchery after her condition got worse. She was declared dead soon after by the hospital authorities. 

 

Anusree's relatives cried foul over the death and suspected medical negligence behind it. "Just after reaching the private clinic, they gave her an injection. After that her condition got even worse," Ratnamma, mother of Ansusree, told Asianet News. 

 

But the doctor of the clinic stated that the Anusree's condition was critical when she was brought to the clinic and that he had recommended for expert medical care. 

 

A post graduate in journalism from Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Anusree worked with Jai Hind and India Vision television channels before joining 'Samayam.' 

The cremation will take place at Pathanamthitta after post mortem at Kottayam Medical College.
