Karnataka: Two accused of rape sentenced to 10 years RI

Synopsis

 

Zabiulla of Harihar, 27, who had threatened the girl of 'serious circumstances' if she told anyone of the rape, was sentenced to 10 years of jail term and Rs 31,000 fine.
 

Zabiulla had kidnapped a girl on May 21, 2014 and sexually assaulted her. He had threatened her of dire consequences if she revealed his part in the kidnapping. However, once back in Harihar, a case was filed against him at the Harihar Police Station under POCSO.

 

After the investigation, the special court judge Mallikarjuna sentenced the accused to 10 years of jail term.

 

In a similar incident in 2014,  Ganesh from Kondajji village in Harihar raped a woman on September 18, when she came out to attend a call of nature.

 

Ganesh has been sentenced to seven years of jail term and Rs 10,000 fine.
