Karnataka transport strike costs ₹21 crore per day

Synopsis

The substantial losses are made worse by the 90 or so buses destroyed by stoning and burning. The public must replace each day of loss and each damaged bus through taxes.

Karnataka transport workers are on indefinite strike from midnight on Sunday, demanding the fulfilment of various demands. While the strike goes on, here is a look at the loss the transport department will incur per day of the strike.

In total, the strike has halted 24,000 buses, causing inconvenience to an estimated 87 lakh people. And the transport department incurs a loss of ₹ 21 crore per day.

As the employees have called for an indefinite strike, the department will lose quite an enormous amount of revenue if a solution is not sorted out as soon as possible.
