The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation is all set to go cashless.

Already many bus conductors are using Electronic Ticket Machines (ETM), now the KSRTC is planning to issue Electronic Data Capture (EDC) machines (card swipe machines) to all the conductors across the state within 3 months.

Already card swipe machines are being used in 10 counters of KSRTC bus stands which include Majestic, Shanthinagar, Chennai, Tirupati, Ooty and other prime bus stands.

KSRTC is getting 20% of its profit from advance bookings. Now it is planning to distribute card swipe machines to counters as well as to the bus conductors for cashless transactions.

Senior officers say this will reduce the stress of the work and also earn more profit to KSRTC since this ensures transparency in the transaction.

“We have already provided swiping machines at counters where we are gaining more profit and are training our personnel also on how to use it. In the coming days all the counters of the state will become card swipe machine enabled counters” said Rajender Kumar Kataria, MD, KSRTC
