Karnataka promises 24/7 electricity supply to industries

The Karnataka energy minister was addressing the ‘Sadhana Samavesha’ (Convention to commemorate achievement) at the Gnanajyothi Convention Hall in Central College in Bengaluru, on Tuesday, under the aegis of the Karnataka Small Scale Industries Development Corporation.

He remarked that the governance had taken all steps to ensure uninterrupted power supply to industrial units, though the state was reeling under a severe drought for two years now.

He shared plans to develop at least a 20 MW solar power project in every taluk of the state and in this regard, he indicated that 150 appropriate places have already been identified. 

Apart from this, he said that measures had been taken up to stop the pilferage of power and works are being focused on consolidating electricity resources.

"As of now, Karnataka is producing surplus power and we have stopped purchasing power from the Centre and private companies. We are aiming to make Karnataka a self-reliant state by producing 5000 MW of power through solar energy in the coming days," he said.
