After more than a month in the hospital, AIDIMK General Secretary and TN CM J Jayalalithaa released her first statement via a two-page letter.
According to a New Indian Express report, the statement said, “I share the joyful message that I have had a rebirth, thanks to the prayers by those in Tamil Nadu, other parts of the country and abroad. I am looking forward to resuming routine work by getting fully recovered with the blessings of the Almighty, who leads me as ever.”
She also expressed her anguish when she heard that some of her party workers had committed suicide.
In addition to this, she also reached out to the voters of her neighbouring constituencies. Reports New Indian Express, “As Aravakurichi, Thanjavur, Thiruparankundram and Nellithope in Puducherry go to the polls on November 19, I appeal, through this statement, that all of you must work in full force for the victory of the AIADMK,” adding further that, “AIADMK’s victory must echo in all the directions. I am eagerly awaiting such a victory.”
She was admitted at Apollo Hospitals on Sept 22, 2016, for fever and dehydration. A team at Apollo is currently working on her recuperation, and will be discharged as deemed fit.
