'I saw her die from just 50 feet': Chennai techie murder witness

Synopsis

An eyewitness to the horrific Chennai techie murder has revealed what he saw on the fateful morning at Nungambakkam Railway Station.

"I heard someone shout and when I turned back I saw a girl who was pierced with a sickle on her neck. Just minutes later she collapsed and was lying in a pool of blood," said Tamilarasan, the eye witness to Infosys employee Swathi’s murder.

Those three minutes were ghastly. I saw her die from just 50 feet, he said.

“As soon as people heard Swathi shout, we all turned and two commuters standing on the platform chased the accused. The accused seemed to be in a hurry did not bother about the approaching train and started crossing the railway track. As people watched, he climbed the platform on the other side and ran from the Choodumalai area.

"On the day, we reached the second platform 10 minutes before the arrival of the train. Swathi was standing in front of the women’s compartment. A man approached her and spoke to her for two to three minutes and stabbed at her throat with a sickle. The girl who was standing at a short distance from us was a corpse just in minutes," Tamilarasan reportedly told Times of India.
