Even if service does not exist Bengaluru wants service charge

Synopsis

Waste Water Management, SM Ramakrishna was not available for comments.  A member from the association pointed that the bill reflects the collecting charges.

The residents from Whitefield and surroundings are surprised as the water board has levied charges for the sanitary services like collection of sewage trough underground pipes, treatment and recycle. The irony lies in the fact that the residents manage their own sewage by installing a sewage treatment plant and said that the BWSSB has failed to look into these aspects and has blindly levied sanitary service charges.

The resident welfare association said that the BWSSB is yet to lay the underground sewage lines in Whitefield, Mahadevpura and Varthur areas. As the BWSSB is taking time in connecting the sewage lines, many apartment complexes installed sewage treatment plant and are managing waste.

A member from the association pointed that the bill reflects the collecting charges as the residents have been paying 25 percent that also includes sewage management charges by BWSSB.

Despite many attempts to reach BWSSB Chief Engineer, Waste Water Management, SM Ramakrishna was not available for comments.
