Cops make major breakthrough in the murder of Kerala NRI

Synopsis

A day after an NRI and his son were reported missing, investigators have made a big breakthrough in the case.

Following some crucial CCTV footages, the police have arrested US returned Joy V. John's son Sherin John for the cold murder of his father.

Sherin was arrested at a private hotel on Sunday morning by a team of special squad and shadow police. The gun which was used to shoot John was also recovered from Sherin, who has confessed to the murder.

Sherin told police that he killed his father following a dispute over property and burnt the body which was later dumped in Pamba river.

On Saturday, suspecting that something was amiss John's wife and Sherin's mother Mariamma filed a police complaint following which the police conducted a search at a godown owned by John at Chengannur market road and found charred body parts and blood-stained footwear.

Sherin's call to his mother after committing the crime also played a crucial role in the arrest.
