Five children of a family drown in Kannur
Synopsis
Five children, four boys and a girl, of a family drowned in a river at Payyavur in Kannur on Saturday. The children, all aged between 13 and 15 had gone to take a bath in the Chamathachal river.
Tragedy struck the kids soon after they ventured into the water.
The deceased have been identified as Sebal Selgen, Orija Selgen, Manik Binoy, Akhil and Aayal, the children of brothers Kuttikkattil Jose and Akkamparambil Saji.
Three among the deceased had come to Payyavur to spend their summer vacation.
The body of children were taken to Pariyaram Medical College and will be handed over to the relatives after a post-mortem examination.
In a similar incident, two teens who had gone for swimming at Payyambalam beach in Kannur had drowned on Monday.
