Chief Secretary recommends suspension of Additional Chief Secretary Tom Jose

Synopsis

The report recommends suspension of Tom Jose. The action is related to corruption in KMML during his tenure.

In the backdrop of Vigilance report, the Chief Secretary has recommended action against Additional Chief Secretary Tom Jose in connection with corruption in Magnesium import for Kerala Minerals and Metals Ltd (KMML). 

 


The vigilance department had earlier registered an FIR against Tom Jose for allegedly causing loss to the exchequer over a deal while he was Managing Director of KMML during 2014-2016 tenure. The report has also sought suspension of five other officials in the case. 

 


Last month, the Vigilance department had conducted raid at the residences of Jose at Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram for possession of disproportionate assets after a preliminary inquiry revealed that the official, who is also the state president of IAS association had amassed assets about 62% more than his known income.
