Den Craiz, a real estate business person, hailing from Perth in Australia, has filed a complaint with the Chickpet traffic police in Bengaluru against Jaffer, an autorickshaw driver, accusing him of exorbitant overcharging.

Den was on a four-day visit to Bengaluru with his wife. The couple stayed at a private hotel and had boarded an autorickshaw around noon on 20 August, at Cottonpet, near the city railway station in Bengaluru.

Jaffer, the auto driver, took them on rounds to various parts of the city till midnight and drove them back to the hotel.

The auto fare meter displayed a total of ₹ 1300, but driver demanded ₹ 4000, which they reluctantly paid.

Hurt by the autorickshaw driver’s behaviour, Den approached the Chickpet Traffic Police Station on Monday and lodged a complaint against the driver.

Police swung into action and traced the erring auto driver, arresting him and seizing his vehicle. The police also made him repay the extra money he had taken from the Australian couple.
