Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the abduction and assault of actress has decided to book the lawyer of Pulsar Suni, the prime accused in the case, of conspiring to hide the evidence. The police had recovered Suni's clothes and a mobile phone from the advocate's office.
However, the phone was not the one used by accused to capture the visuals of the incident. The SIT had earlier questioned the lawyer and is planning to conduct lie detector test as he was not cooperating with interrogation.
Seven persons were arraigned in the charge-sheet submitted before Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Angamaly.
During initial interrogation, Pulsar Suni had told police that he threw the phone into the backwaters from Goshree bridge on the night of the incident. Extensive searches were held with the help of Navy, but with no results. SIT believes that the story was cooked up to mislead probe and the mobile was hidden at some place with the help of his lawyer.
The police have decided to charge the lawyer with conspiring to hide evidence.
However, he was not the first lawyer Suni approached. Suni had contacted another lawyer at Aluva and handed over a cover with a mobile phone, a passport and memory card for safe keeping. The lawyer later turned witness, and then another advocate took over Suni's case and started to represent him in the court.
