Blast inside ATM counter in Kerala: Police suspect robbery bid

Synopsis

 

In an apparent bid to loot money an identified man blew off an ATM counter attached to the SBI bank at Aluva in  Kerala early morning on Sunday. The robbery bid was foiled by the timely intervention of a police patrol team. 

 

The blast in the ATM counter occurred at around 2.30 AM at Kunnumpuram in Aluva, Ernakulam. A police patrol team noticed fumes from inside the teller machine and rushed to the spot instantly.  

 

According to police, a man wearing helmet and hand gloves entered the ATM counter and placed an explosive substance that went off after a while. The police suspect that it was a pre-planned attempt to loot money from the ATM. A similar attempt had been noticed at Cherthala in Alappuzha a few months back. Bomb squad and forensic experts have reached the spot and  started an investigation.
