The judicial commission probing the sensational Solar scam in Kerala has issued a stern warning to Saritha S Nair, the kingpin of the scam. If Nair did not appear before the commission on 27 June, it will have to order her arrest, it warned.
Interestingly, the commission stated that it had already issued the required arrest warrant for Nair. They said they would enforce the warrant if Nair failed to appear before the commission despite being summoned four times. Every time, she would cite an excuse for her absence, Justice Sivarajan Commission noted.
Nair, who is notorious for stirring up a storm by levelling allegations against top politicians, had requested more time for producing evidence to prove her claims. She was supposed to produce some documents on Wednesday, but wanted an extension instead, claiming she was unwell. But the Commission denied an extension. The Commission had pulled her up earlier as well and bluntly told her not to use her appearances before it for media publicity.
As the Assembly election campaign was at its peak, Nair had submitted a few 'digital evidence' before the commission on 13 May. She had alleged that former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had sexually exploited her, an allegation that was strongly refuted by Chandy who filed a defamation case in response.
