For Jallikattu, AR Rahman goes on day long fast

Internationally-acclaimed Oscar winner music director AR Rahman has also shown his support to Jallikattu by going on a day-long fast. He will be accompanied by Nadigar Sangam -- the South Indian Artistes Association – members for expressing their solidarity with the Tamil Nadu people who are protesting against the ban on the traditional bull taming sport.

 

Announcing his support Rahman tweed that:

The ban on Jallikattu has led to a mass movement that has been supported by many celebrities including Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth, Dhanush, Suriya and many others. Apart from actors, film directors, singers, and many others from the film industry have shown their support to the protest.

 

Across Tamil Nadu, people from all walks of life have gathered at Marina Beach to protest against the ban and PETA. The neighbouring states also witnessed protest and Tamilians living Sri Lanka, UK and Australia also showed their solidarity by holding protest and demonstrations.
