Who is Vinod K Jacob, India's next ambassador to Bahrain?

Vinod K Jacob is presently Deputy High Commissioner in the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka. 
 


New Delhi: The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday announced the appointment of three officers as envoys to Bahrain, Norway and Botswana.
Vinod K Jacob, a native of Kerala and a 2000-batch Indian Foreign Service Officer, was appointed as India's next ambassador to Bahrain. He is presently Deputy High Commissioner in the Indian High Commission in Sri Lanka. 

He has worked in Indian Missions in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Geneva in addition to Sri Lanka. At the Indian Embassy in Beijing, he has also held the position of Deputy Chief of mission. A Kerala native, Vinod K. Jacob attended Padma Seshadri Balabhavan Senior Secondary School in Chennai. He received his law training from Chennai's Dr. Ambedkar Law College. Namgya C. Khampa, an officer in the foreign service, is his wife.

After Piyush Srivastava, the current ambassador completed his term, Vinod K Jacob was appointed to Bahrain.

According to everybodywiki report, Jacob has served in Beijing and New York (Permanent Mission of India to the United Nations). At Headquarters, he has served as Desk Officer in China as well as Director (Deputy Director General level) in the division dealing with Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran. As Under Secretary (China), Jacob had been involved in helping a TN youth in China get a reprieve from death row on charges of possessing narcotics. 

As the Joint Secretary [Economic Diplomacy] for the MEA in 2018, Vinod K. Jacob got on the WAPCOS Board of Directors. In 2018, he served as a director on the ITPO's board of directors. In 2018, he was a member of the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade's Board of Management. He was a member of the Indian delegation to the International Solar Alliance's (ISA) First Ministerial Assembly, which took place on October 3 in Greater Noida.

At the same time, MEA appointed Bharath Kumar Kuthathi, a 2006-batch Indian Foreign Service as the next High Commissioner of India to the Republic of Botswana.

Dr. Acquino Vimal- a 2000-batch of Indian Foreign Service, has been appointed as the next Ambassador to the Kingdom of Norway. He is presently Deputy Chief of Mission in Embassy of India, Beijing.

The three officers are expected to take up their assignments shortly.
