Unity Software Inc. shares moved nearly 5% higher in overnight trading Wednesday after Meta Platforms’ Meta Connect 2026 kicked off with a slate of new VR, AI, and wearable-device announcements, renewing focus on the software ecosystem supporting Meta’s immersive computing push.
Meta showcased Meta VR Glasses and a series of new Ray-Ban products as CEO Mark Zuckerberg outlined the company’s broader “personal superintelligence” strategy.
The event is being held Sept. 23-24, with the second day focused more heavily on developers, including SDK updates and technical sessions.
The announcements provided a potential read-through for Unity, which has a longstanding relationship with Meta around virtual reality development.
In April, the companies extended their multi-year platform support and enterprise agreement, with Unity continuing to support Meta’s VR platform and developers building games and business applications for Meta’s VR devices. Unity said at the time that it powers the majority of Meta’s top-selling VR games.
Unity functions as a key content-creation layer for Meta’s VR ecosystem. Developers use Unity’s tools and Meta XR software to build and deploy immersive experiences across Meta’s devices.
Meta has continued expanding the technical integration between the two platforms. Its Meta XR Unity MCP Extension allows developers to use AI agents to create and modify Meta VR scenes inside Unity, adding another layer to the companies’ software relationship.
The potential expansion of Meta’s VR ecosystem, through the launch of new devices, is seen as a boost for Unity, traders on Stocktwits said.
More Meta hardware, users and immersive applications create a larger pool of developers building VR content, potentially benefiting Unity as the development engine.
On Stocktwits, the retail sentiment jumped to ‘extremely bullish’ as of late Wednesday from ‘neutral’ the previous day, with the ticker trending among the top three on the platform at the time of writing.
“There is potential for a terminal value re-rate (for Unity) once again, considering this is the very moment where finally the strong ai driven adtech performance, the expansion of the user base through agentic AI, and the introduction of a more usable and complex AR device potentially entering the market have all appeared together,” said a trader.
Unity stock has rallied sharply in recent months, supported by better-than-expected results and growing investor optimism around its AI-powered Vector advertising platform and Create business.
The stock has also benefited from Unity’s exit from legacy advertising and publishing businesses, with the closure of ironSource Ads Network in April and the divestiture of its Supersonic mobile-game publishing business in August. Shares remain flat for 2026, but the watcher count for U on Stocktwits has increased 2.8% over the past 12 months.
