Alphabet’s Google (GOOG, GOOGL) unveiled Gemini 4 Argon on Wednesday, its latest frontier artificial intelligence model engineered to manage complex software development and cybersecurity defense.
The tech giant is initially rolling out the new system to a restricted group of trusted cybersecurity specialists through its Fairwind Program. Company officials said a broader commercial launch for enterprise users, developers, and subscribers will follow as they refine additional safety guardrails.
The release follows recent AI model launches from OpenAI and Anthropic on the enterprise side, while Meta Platforms (META) vies to gain market share on the consumer side with Muse AI.
To address intricate problem-solving scenarios, Google dramatically scaled Argon's output capacity to 1 million tokens—up from the previous 64,000-token limit. The expansion gives the model more headroom to follow extended reasoning paths without losing coherence across complex, multi-stage projects.
According to internal evaluations, Gemini 4 Argon achieved leading benchmark scores in real-world software engineering, long-form video comprehension, and domain-specific economic fields spanning legal research, finance, and tax analysis.
A primary focus of the Argon release is cybersecurity. The system can autonomously scan codebases, isolate critical vulnerabilities, and author context-aware security patches, Google said in a press statement.
During early testing, the system detected a severe, previously unmapped vulnerability in hospital healthcare software that earlier AI models had missed. To let cybersecurity teams use the technology at full effectiveness, Google is releasing tailored versions without standard restrictions directly to approved defensive partners.
Google has already deployed Argon across its internal engineering infrastructure to streamline operations around the memory and quantum computing departments.
Google confirmed that Gemini 4 Argon will launch with an introductory developer API price of $2 per million input tokens.
