Kerala police registered a case against 20 persons in Kasargod for celebrating the victory of Pakistan in ICC Champions Trophy. Police took case based on a complaint filed by BJP local leader Rajesh Shetty.
The incident happened in Chakkudal in Kumbadaje. The persons were booked under Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 153 (Wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot-if rioting be committed-if not committed), 286 (Negligent conduct with respect to explosive substance) of the IPC.
The BJP leader had complained that the men conducted a march at 11 pm on Sunday night raising pro-Pakistan slogans. He also complained that the youths burst fire crackers to celebrate the victory of Pakistan.
The arrest in Kerala took place close to the heels of the arrest of 15 persons in Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh, under sedition charges, for celebrating Pakistan's victory against India in Champions Trophy.
