It seems Saritha S Nair, one of the prime accused in the solar scam, made contradictory statements before the Solar Judicial Commission about sexual abuse by politicians and police officers. As per latest reports, Saritha had denied allegations of sexual abuse before the court and in police stations.
The accused had written three letters while she was lodged in Women Prison And Correctional Home, Attukulangara, Thiruvananthapuram. In the first letter dated July 13, 2013, Saritha had written that several senior politicians and police officers had sexually abused her. The Solar Commission has directed the state government to conduct probe based on the allegations made in the letter.
However, in the next two letters, written within two weeks after first one, Saritha had denied her own allegations. In the second letter submitted before Ernakulam Additional First Class Judicial Magistrate Court, it is written that reports about her alleged links with politicians and ministers are false. Jail authorities had presented the letter before the court as per Saritha's request.

The third letter was written on November 22, 2013, in reply to a complaint filed by the then BJP state secretary K Surendran before Ernakulam North Police station. The BJP leader had requested inquiry against the politicians whose names were mentioned in the first letter written by Saritha. In the third letter, the Saritha had also written that she is not interested in giving the reply to allegations raised by Surendran for political benefits.
"I am well aware of the laws about women's safety. No petition or statement had been given before Ernakulam Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Court alleging sexual harassment," Saritha wrote.
It is also mentioned that the letter was written in the presence of jail superintendent.
