
A 65-year-old woman was mauled to death by two pet dogs in Wayanad on Monday.
Rajamma, a widow of Ambedkar colony in Vythiri, was attacked by her neighbour's dogs around 9.30 am when she was on her way to work along with few others. Those accompanying her ran to safety leaving Rajamma behind as the dogs, of Rottweiler breed, came running towards them.
The woman who suffered serious injuries on her head, hands and legs was rushed to the Vythiri taluk hospital, police said. Later she was referred to the Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital, where she succumbed to the injuries.
A case under sections 289 (negligent conduct with respect to animals) and 304(a) (causing death by negligence) has been registered against Jose, the owner of the dogs.
