The LDF government in Kerala has reportedly spent over ₹42 lakh on social media promotions as part of their first anniversary celebrations.
The promotions were done through a company, based in Kozhikode and owned by the son of a prominent CPM leader, according to Asianet News. The government, led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, completed its first year in power in May.
The government signed a contract worth Rs 42,47812 with the company for online promotions through social media alone. Half of this amount has already been paid to the company and the rest is expected to be handed over soon.
Global Innovative Technologies at Nadakkavu, owned by CPM Kozhikode secretary P Mohanan's son Julius Mirshad, has signed on to do pro-LDF promotions through Facebook, WhatsApp and other social media platforms.
