KSRTC mechanical staff call off strike

Synopsis

The strike held by a section of the KSRTC mechanical department staff has been called off There won't be any disciplinary action against the staff if they resume their duty soon

The strike held by a section of the KSRTC mechanical department employees was called off on Wednesday following a meeting between the workers and KSRTC MD MG Rajamanickam.

The decision to call off the strike was taken after the MD assured the employees that duty reformations would be reviewed after 10 days. Rajamanikyam told the employees that the KSRTC would revert to old duty system if the reformations are found to be faulty.

Though an agreement to end the strike was reached after transport minister Thomas Chandy met labour union leaders on Tuesday, some leaders and a section of employees refused to resume work and continued the stir on Wednesday morning.

The KSRTC management then stated that it would take strict disciplinary action against those who continued the strike. Following this, the leaders agreed to meet the management on Wednesday, and an agreement has now been reached. There won't be any disciplinary action against the staff if they resume their duty, according to the agreement.
