In a new development to the probe surrounding the Kochi actress attack case, the accused have offered to reveal the "conspiracy" and the people behind the crime.
The three accused - Pulsar Suni, Martin and Pradeep - have stated that they are ready to open up in court and expose the persons who had planned the kidnap and assault on the popular Malayalam actress back in February.
The principal sessions court in Kochi was scheduled to hear bail pleas from Martin and Pradeep on Monday and there was speculation that the accused would disclose the conspiracy behind the attack in court. However, the judge postponed the hearing on the bail plea to June 17, making the session on Saturday a potentially crucial one to the case.
According to reports, the accused were expected to tell the court that high-profile personalities behind the conspiracy have gone scot-free.
If true, the development partly supports the repeated allegations from sources close to the actress, claiming the attack was planned by some bigwigs in the Malayalam industry and was executed with their knowledge.
However, the police have refused to confirm the conspiracy angle. The probe team said that there has been no evidence to suspect the involvement of another person in the attack and that the accused are cooking up a story as a bargaining chip.
The actress, popular across the South Indian industries, was kidnapped and assaulted in a moving car in Kochi on February 17.
