An 11-month-old baby was killed by her mother, boyfriend, and relatives in Kannur. The child's mother confessed to the crime and stated that she killed the child three months ago. The police took the mother into custody this morning.
4:19 pm: Kochi declared as South Asia's first age-friendly city
The World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Kochi as South Asia's first age-friendly city. This significant announcement was made recently at the WHO headquarters in Geneva. The achievement is a recognition of the efforts made by the Kochi Municipal Corporation in the last three years to provide the necessary infrastructure for senior citizens and create a favorable environment for mental and physical health. During this period, the municipality implemented innovative projects and programs based on the recommendations of the World Health Organization in collaboration with the voluntary organization Magix and IMA.
3:56 pm: Etihad Airways to expand services to Thiruvananthapuram in summer schedule
Etihad Airways, the flag carrier of the United Arab Emirates, is set to enhance its summer schedule with new flights to Jaipur and reportedly, Thiruvananthapuram. The existing daily service to Thiruvananthapuram will be augmented to ten flights per week, while a new route to Jaipur has also been announced. Currently, Abu Dhabi to Kochi enjoys three daily services. With the introduction of these new routes, approximately 1,000 individuals will have the opportunity to travel to Kerala weekly, while 1,200 travelers will gain access to Jaipur.

Around 21 people have been admitted to hospital due to food poisoning in Varkala. Those who ate kuzhimandhi and Alfam from Spicy Hotel near Temple Road are undergoing treatment at the hospital. Those who ate food from this hotel suffered various kinds of discomfort. They were initially admitted to Taluk Hospital, however, later shifted to a private hospital. 21 people including 9 members of a family are admitted to the hospital.
2:47 pm: Professor stabbed at NIT Calicut campus; accused arrested
A professor working at NIT Calicut was stabbed on Friday afternoon at Mukkam, Kozhikode. Jayachandran, professor of civil engineering at NIT, was stabbed by Vinod, a native of Salem, Tamil Nadu. After the incident, the accused Vinod Kumar was taken into custody by the Kunnamangalam police. The police said that Vinod Kumar is not a student of NIT and they are trying to collect more information.

The police have launched an investigation to find out the identity of the skeleton found in the water tank of the Karyavattom campus. The investigation is centered on the driving license of Avinash, a native of Thalassery, found in the water tank. The police decided to conduct a DNA test on Avinash's father.

Thiruvananthapuram: Governor Arif Mohammed Khan criticized the SFI over the death of a second-year student of Veterinary College in Wayanad. The complaint given to him by his parents regarding the incident was handed over to the DGP. The DGP replied that seven people had been arrested in the incident.
The governor stated that the role of SFI in this incident is clear and they are promoting violence in the state. Referring to the TP murder case, the governor said that the party had killed the person who was with them.

Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya's mother Premakumari will go to Yemen next week to meet the former who has been sentenced to death on charges of allegedly killing a Yemeni national. After completing the visa process, Premakumari will leave for Yemen next Friday. The Indian Embassy is trying to meet the family of the killed Yemeni citizen to get the sentence reduced. Nimisha Priya can be saved from the death penalty only if the family of the Yemeni national allows it.

10:30 am: Union government allocates Rs 4000 crore to Kerala amid financial crisis
The state's severe financial crisis has been temporarily alleviated with the reduction in the borrowing limit, along with the recovery of ₹4,000 crore from the Centre, which helped the Treasury overcome overdraft issues. This development ensures that government employees' salaries and pensions will be disbursed on time. Additionally, the state received ₹2,736 crore in tax share and IGST share from the Centre. The Finance Minister previously attributed the state's worsening crisis to the Center withholding Kerala's claimed funds.

A significant development has emerged in the investigation into the discovery of a skeleton in the water tank at Kerala University's Kariyavattam campus. The authorities are focusing on a Thalassery native who disappeared seven years ago. The driving license of a person from Thalassery was found with the remains. Assistant Commissioner Babu Kuttan stated that a DNA test will be conducted once the missing youth's father arrives in the city.
A human skeleton was found inside the Kerala University Karyavattom campus in Thiruvananthapuram on Wednesday( Feb 29). The skeleton was found inside an old water tank attached to the campus botany department.
8:24 am: Higher Secondary and Vocational Higher Secondary examinations to commence today across the state
The higher secondary and vocational higher secondary examinations will commence today across the state. Around 8,53,000 students will take part in 2017 examination centers for higher secondary and 57,707 students for VHSE. Examination centers have been established in the Gulf, Lakshadweep, and Mahi. The exams will span nine days, concluding on March 26. Notably, the issue regarding the printing of answer papers has already been resolved.
