Why SM Krishna was absent when Shah visited Adichunchanagiri Mutt?

BJP national president Amit Shah spent almost half the day at Adichunchanagiri Mutt on August 13. He was accompanied by BJP State president BS Yeddyurappa, MLA CT Ravi, MP DV Sadananda Gowda and others to the mutt. But what has caught everyone's eye is the absence of SM Krishna, who recently ditched Congress to join the Saffron party.

Krishna hails from Mandya district and the mutt is located in the Nagamangala taluk of Mandya. When Shah arrived to the mutt, the community members expected Krishna to be present at the mutt. For, Krishna is a Vokkaliga and a devotee of the mutt. However, his absence has raised lot of speculations.

According to Kannada Prabha, Krishna had reportedly not received any official invitation either from the Mutt authorities or from his own party to visit the mutt. This could be the reason for him to stay away from joining BJP supremo Shah to the Mutt, reports Kannada Prabha quoting sources.

While it is not yet clear, why and how the BJP reportedly failed to extend him an invitation to join the Shah delegation to the mutt, Krishna was not available for the comment.

Of late, Krishna has been keeping himself away from the BJP camp. Along with BJP leaders, he too chose not to speak when his own protege and Energy Minister DK Shivakumar was raided by the Income Tax officials. Even during the communal clashes in Bantwal, Krishna chose to remain silent even when his own party members were sparing no words to blame Siddaramaiah government for the clashes.

However, he did take a dig at Siddaramaiah government when the cabinet decided to release Cauvery water to canals in the Cauvery basin, last week. SM Krishna condemned the government's decision to release water now two months after the sowing season has completed. "The crops are already dried up waiting for water. Why is the government releasing water now," the former chief minister had asked. Apart from this, Krishna has adopted a preferred silence, so far.
