Welcoming the Kerala state's order, the KSP chairman Manu Baligar has urged the Karnataka government to make Kannada compulsory in all government, aided, CBSE and ISCE schools.

Baligar has written to chief minister, education minister and chief secretary in this regard.

It has been widely debated whether to make Kannada mandatory in schools or not. The Sarojini Mahishi committee recently recommended the government to include Kannada as a mandatory subject from class 1 to 10th in all CBSE, ICSE and Kendriya Vidyalayas.
