The Popular Front of India (PFI) had organised a mammoth rally at the Palace Grounds on Sunday with the slogan “We also have something to say” at the Gauri Lankesh dais, reported Kannada Prabha.
The PFI leaders spoke on the occasion and said patriotism is not a prerogative of the Sangh Parivar, we are also patriots. We are also brought up in the lap of patriotism and we are also ready to sacrifice for the country. The seer of Urilinga Peddi mutt Jnanaprakasha Swamy said talking truth is resulting in killings. "This is not the country of people but of cows. Muslims, Dalits and backward community people should unite to change this," he said.
They also alleged that RSS is systematically campaigning against PFI. "RSS is projecting as if only it is patriot and others are not. We are also patriots and we also will sacrifice for the country, they said. PFI national president E Abubakar said there is no allegation of treason against PFI yet RSS is projecting us to be anti-national. If any of its allegations are proven action can be taken against us. Let them reward hanging. But in not a single instance there is evidence to prove otherwise. Why is RSS talking of banning PFI?" he asked.
Throughout the Indian history we have seen fascist forces making false allegations against social and human rights organisations. The investigating organisations inquiring into RSS’s false allegations are sponsored. RSS has even made serious accusation that the PFI is training youths to join ISIS. It is far from truth. Facts tell otherwise, he said.
Former national president of PFI K M Shareef said, "RSS is demanding that PFI should be banned but we are demanding RSS to be banned. We are capable to withstanding the differences in our ideologies. Gauri Lankesh was killed for differences in ideologies. But her thoughts will never fade away," he said.
The huge gathering listened to the speeches braving the rain, under umbrellas and some holding up chairs over their heads. People from Kerala and Mangaluru also had arrived in large numbers.
