US company to invest in John Distillery Ltd in Bengaluru

The second largest liquor manufacturing company in the US Sazerac is investing in country’s fifth biggest whisky making company John Distillery Ltd (JDL). Sazerac Company Inc had earlier bought 28 per cent shares in JDL and now bought 15 per cent additional shares from Gaza Capitol. The market analysts have said that it has gone through the country’s most stringent excise rules before purchasing the decisive shares.

The second largest liquor manufacturing company in the US Sazerac is investing in country’s 5^th biggest whisky making company John Distillery Ltd (JDL), located at Bengaluru, reported Kannada Prabha.

Sazerac Company Inc had earlier bought 28 per cent shares in JDL. It has further bought 15 per cent additional shares from Gaza Capitol. With this the total shares Sazerac owns in JDL has gone up to 43 per cent.  Pal John, owner of JDL has 57 percent shares. 

With this purchase Sazerac has entered into Indian rye whisky market.  The market analysts have said that it has gone through the country’s most stringent excise rules before purchasing the decisive shares. JDL products have a good market in over 30 countries, while Sazerac has around 350 brands that are considered premium at global market.
