Upgradation of engineering courses text books soon says VTU VC

Synopsis

The upgradation of engineering text books will be taken up soon. The engineering texts prevailing in our universities are not useful in the job market. Both State and Central Governments are stressing on skill based education. Skill training centres have been started at Dandeli, Muddenahalli and at Bengaluru. Shraddha Janardhan Sait won 6 gold medals, highest in Computer Science and Engineering.

The upgradation of engineering text books will be taken up soon said Belagavi Vishveshvaraya Technological University (VTU) VC Dr Karisiddappa. He was speaking at the convocation of the Dr Ambedkar Technical University at Nagarabhavi on Thursday, reported Kannada Prabha.

He said it is said in the education field and among teachers and students that in the changing global education field, the engineering texts prevailing in our universities are not useful in the job market.

Hence it has been decided to upgrade the engineering text books, to suit the current global job market. Both State and Central Governments are stressing on skill based education and as a part of it skill training centres have been started at Dandeli, Muddenahalli and at Bengaluru. VTU is placing more importance on skill based education, he said.

A total of 804 engineering graduates received their degree certificates from eminent personalities.  A total of 40 students were conferred gold medals and various endowment prizes, including 9 who received gold medals on procuring first ranks in various disciplines.

Shraddha Janardhan Sait won 6 gold medals, highest in Computer Science and Engineering.  She said she is from Kumata and it was her parents’ dream that she should become an engineer. The dream has come true she said. Her father runs a hotel and Shraddha was helping her father in running the hotel along with studies. She has been offered a job at TCS Company and said she will start her profession from there, she said.
