This Karnataka district to become first startup district in India

The local administration has already examined two spots in the district. The Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada has confirmed that there is nothing in written as of now.

 

Karnataka might have the first startup district in India if bureaucracy goes right. According to a report, the Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada, Dr KG Jagadeesha stated that officials from the Union Ministry of Commerce have contacted him and if all goes well than Mangaluru will become the first startup district of India. 

 

After discussing with the ministry, the local administration of Mangaluru has already examined two spots in Adyar and Surathkal nearby National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK). 

 

The New Indian Express quoted Dr Jagadeesha as confirming that top officials from the Union Ministry of Commerce have met the commissioner and asked for an opinion. Also, he confirmed that though there is nothing in written as of now, but the conversation clearly indicated that Mangaluru might become India’s first startup district. 

 

The commissioner was also quoted as saying that the local administration is considering an area of 20,000 sqft located in the middle of the city having the right social ecosystem for IT and BT professionals. Since startup needs to be socially connected to gain success, so the location is crucial.
