Synopsis

Geetha Mahadev Prasad is the Congress contestant for Gundlupet by-election She accused BJP leaders of insulting and demeaning her during the election campaign This is what she alleged BJP leader Yeddyurappa of promising her and shed tears on the same

Geetha Mahadev Prasad, wife of former minister Mahadev Prasad, who died of heart attack, in January this year is contesting the seat vacated by her husband. However, BJP’s reaction to Geetha contesting election from Gundlupet has led to the woman shed tears.

Addressing a press conference, recently, Geetha said that Yeddyurappa and other BJP leaders are insulting her in public for contesting the election.

MP Pratap Simha had earlier said that not even months after her husband’s death, Geetha was eyeing at the seat and running behind power.

Speaking about Yeddyurappa too, Geetha said that “Yeddyurappa had promised me to help win the seat of my husband and will not field any candidate opposite her from the BJP. Leaders of the party are trying cheap tricks to demean me,” she said.

“I was not interested in politics or wanted to contest the election. The Congress party, to which my husband belonged, party workers and people of the constituency forced me to contest the election. I am doing it for the love of people who respected my husband. But when I get to hear mean things about me in the name of election campaigns, I regret my decision of contesting. This is how BJP leaders are making me feel,” an emotional Geetha told the media.

However, reacting to this, Yeddyurappa has rubbished Geetha’s claims. He said that he had visited her during the funeral of her husband. “Nobody speaks about power or election during the funeral, and even I did not promise her anything like that,” he said.
