The victim identified as Vasanthamma (29) of Malvalli was married to Muniraju - from Chamarajanagar - for eleven years.

While Muniraju was an auto driver, Vasanthamma was a beautician. The couple who met in a relative's wedding fell in love and were married for 11 years. The couple has two sons.

According to the police, Muniraju suspected Vasanthamma's fidelity after he saw some objectionable messages and pictures on her phone allegedly sent by her friend. He would come home drunk and fight with her for no reason. Her repeated efforts to clear his suspicion fell on deaf ears. 

On Wednesday too, while having the dinner, he fought with Vasanthamma and in a fit of rage, he stabbed her to death. After hearing her screams, neighbours rushed to the house to find Vasanthamma in a pool of blood. Muniraju surrendered himself before the police. The couple's children were not at home when the incident occurred.

Thalaghattapura police have registered the case and are investigating.
