
Southern Jewels, a luxury train with all five star facilities will start rolling from June 24 catering to local tourists, announced S S Jagannath, General Manager, IRCTC, Indian Railway.
The Maharaja Express that was touring the north India has been named Southern Jewels and it will travel between Mumbai and Thiruvananthapuram. The duration of the travel is 8 days and 7 nights.
In the first phase it will start at Mumbai, travel through Goa, Hampi, Mysore, Mahabalipuram, Chettinad and reach Thiruvananthapuram. On July 1st it will start its return journey from Thiruvananthapuram to Mumbai. The train has all five star facilities with a restaurant, library, two bars and spa.
The train aims at catering to local tourists and the tickets are of four categories. Starting from Rs 33,250 to going up to Rs 5,00,680 for deluxe cabin. There is also a Presidential Suit costing Rs 17,33,410. There is a twin sharing basis and the first person to book this will get the second ticket free on complimentary basis.
