
All India Congress Committee vice-president Rahul Gandhi asked the Congress party leaders work in unison under the leadership of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah in the upcoming Assembly elections. At a meeting held recently, Rahul Gandhi has reportedly told the leaders that the 2018 Assembly elections will be a deciding factor for the party and hence, the party leaders should sweat it out. On confusions over who should lead the party in the elections, Rahul Gandhi clarified that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will lead the party in the elections. He warned the leaders against creating further confusion in this regard, reports Kannada Prabha.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president G Parameshwar, Executive president Dinesh Gundurao, SR Patil, Oscar Fernandes, Mallikarjuna Kharge, Veerappa Moily, Satish Jarkiholi and State Congress in-charge KC Venugopal were present in the meeting.
All issues regarding elections from appointing booth committees to the poll strategy were discussed in detail at the meeting. Sources said Rahul Gandhi has strictly instructed the leaders to work in unison to win the election.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said the next election will be fought under his leadership, there should not doubt about it. "However, the party high command and the legislature will decide who should be the next chief minister," he said. He also said discussions were held with senior leaders regarding poll preparations. Already preparations are on in the State, 54,000 booth committees have been formed, 1.5 crore booklets are printed, workers will distribute them shortly, he said. The Congress will take up State tour ahead of the ticket allotment and tickets will be allotted as per workers’ opinion, he said.
G Parameshwar also said that there was no differences between him and Siddaramaiah. The election will be fought under Siddaramaiah’s leadership.
