
Train services of Bengaluru-Mangaluru were disrupted on Tuesday afternoon following a landslide on the Sakleshpur-Kukke Subhramanya line at Edakumeri near Shiradi Ghat.
Following heavy rain in Belthangady area for the past four days, the stretch has witnessed heavy landslides. The Edakumeri stretch falls in the Saksleshpur-Subrahmanya road which has many tunnels. The railway authorities have halted the Yeshwanthpur-Mangaluru weekly express near Siribagilu, it is reported.
Meanwhile, Karwar-Yeshwanthpur Express rail bound for Bengaluru from Karwar has been diverted. The train will pass through Shornur, Kannur, Palakkad and Bangarpet to reach Bengaluru.
The stranded passengers of Karwar-Yeshvanthpur and Yeshwanthpur-Mangaluru Junction Express have been provided with light refreshment. Various reports said that provision for refund would also be made. Senior officials of South Western Railway, Mysuru division are supervising track restoration operations at Siribagilu.
