RSS leader apologises for insulting Lingayat community

Synopsis

The RSS Kshetriay Pracharak S Ramanna who had made a derogatory remark against the Lingayat community apologises. He had aclled them "Shani Santhana” meaning progeny of Shani, troublesome.  The Lingayat leaders Ministers M B Patil, Vinay Kulakarni, JD(S) leader Basavaraja Horatti issued a public warning to him. RSS leaders held a meeting and decided it was not right to create a controversy at this time and asked Ramanna to apologise

The RSS Kshetriay Pracharak S Ramanna who had made a derogatory remark against the Lingayat community, calling them “Shani Santhana” meaning progeny of Shani, troublesome, has apologised, putting an end to a possible controversy.  

He tendered an unconditional written apology on Wednesday night stating RSS is trying to unite people of different sectors of Hindu religion.  If he has hurt anybody’s feeling he apologises, he said, reported Kannada Prabha.

Soon after S Ramanna called then Shani Santhana the Lingayat leaders Ministers M B Patil, Vinay Kulakarni, JD(S) leader Basavaraja Horatti issued a public warning to him to apologise and urged all self-respecting Lingayat leaders to disassociate themselves from RSS.  

They also threatened a dharna  in front of RSS office. Following this RSS leaders held a meeting and decided that at this volatile times and especially since elections are approaching it was not right to create a controversy and asked Ramanna to apologise. Accordingly he apologised.
