
A man who stabbed police when they came to arrest him for assaulting a woman and escaped has finally been arrested by Cottonpet police at Channapatna. The accused Rakesh had taken Supari from his friend Pramod Singh to assault his former girlfriend. Rakesh with another accomplice had stabbed her at her door step. When she raised an alarm they had run away.
The Cottonpet police had gone to arrest him on July 1, but at the narrow lane near Binny Mill, he stabbed Cottonpet station ASI Thirumalaiah and constable Kumar and escaped. The two were treated at the hospital for injuries on hands. A team led by inspector Kumaraswamy managed to nab Rakesh on Monday at Channapatna, reports Kannada Prabha.
Rakesh is a rowdy sheeter and was earlier arrested in connection with a murder at KP Agrahara. He is an associate of Peter, who is in Parappana Agrahara jail in connection with a murder, said West DCP M N Anucheth. On June22, Rakesh and his accomplice had assaulted the woman and immediately the police had arrested Pramod Singh, Kumar and Suresh. Rakesh was absconding and he was arrested on Monday.
