The ruling Congress government has handed over the responsibility of convincing JD(S) leaders to continue coalition at the BBMP to Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy with an intention of taking over the BBMP administration. For the past two years, the Congress was able to hold on to the Mayor’s post with the support of JD(S) and intends to continue the same, reports Kannada Prabha.
Responding to this, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said it has not been finalised yet. Minister Roshan Baig has met JD(S) Supremo HD Deve Gowda and held a preliminary meeting with him. Currently internal discussions within the party are being held.
However, the Urban Development Minister KJ George said that Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy has already been handed the responsibility of talking to JD(S). The Chief Minister himself instructed Ramalinga Reddy to meet HD Deve Gowda and HD Kumaraswamy. Accordingly Minister Ramalinga Reddy and KPCC working president Dinesh Gundurao will be meeting the JD(S) leaders and holding talks. He is confident that coalition with JD(S) will continue.
The chief minister confirmed that the only leader Roshan Biag met was Deve Gowda for preliminary talks and nothing has been decided yet. Both the parties have joined hands to keep out the communal forces within BBMP, and wish to continue this in future too, he said.
