It is almost certain that AICC vice-president Rahul Gandhi will be inaugurating the Indira Canteen on Aug 16. The State government has launched Indira Canteen in 198 wards to provide food at the subsidised rates in the City, reports Kannada Prabha.

The canteen scheduled to be inaugurated on Aug 15 has been postponed by a day in view of Independence Day celebrations. Rahul Gandhi and the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate the Indira Canteen completed at Kanakana Palya, Jayanagar, Chikkapete legislative constituencies.

On the occasion, a massive rally has been planned at the National College grounds, led by Rahul Gandhi. Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee is holding discussions with the local Congress leaders and legislators in this regard. Rahul Gandhi will lead the rally from National College grounds to Kanakana Palya and inaugurate the Indira Canteen as a symbolic gesture for all 125 canteens to begin their operations.
