PM Modi to launch worlds largest Solar Park in Karnataka

Synopsis

The world’s largest solar park at Nagalamadike, Pavagada taluk, Tumakuru district, is ready for functioning from coming December. The Park constructed near Tirumani at 13,000 acres at a budget of Rs 15,000 crores. The Park aims at producing 2000 MW solar power and serving. Around 4000 people from the surrounding region will get employment opportunity.

The world’s largest solar park at Nagalamadike, Pavagada taluk, Tumakuru district, is ready for functioning from coming December announced the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, reported Kannada Prabha.

He spoke to media persons after inspecting the Park constructed near Tirumani at 13,000 acres at a budget of Rs 15,000 crore. The Park aims at producing 2000 MW solar power and serving. Around 4000 people from the surrounding region will get employment opportunity. 

The Solar Park has also escalated the real estate in Pavagada a drought hit area, he said and hoped it would help in integrated development of the taluk.

In a special initiation the land has not been purchased from the farmers but only leased at Rs 21,000 per year per acre. Every 2 years the lease amount will be increased, he said.  The Solar Park will provide employment to ITI, Diploma, Engineering students and hence is a major employment generating project.  The Chief Minister praised the State Energy Minister DK Shivakumar and the officials for such a magnificent project.

Energy Minister DK Shivakumar spoke on the occasion and said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed surprise over the Pavagada Solar Park. The Park will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi, he said.

The Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was holding Energy portfolio but entrusted it to me. His vision was to provide power to farmers and darkness -free Karnataka. The Solar Park was inspired by this vision he said.
