
A random check by Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) at various divisions left the officials shocked as many passengers were travelling in KSRTC buses without a ticket.
According to the KSRTC release, a whopping 5,697 people were caught in December last year and a fine amount of Rs 7,22,112 was collected from such ticketless travellers.
The release further stated that 8,800 buses were checked during this period and also had detected 5,027 pilferage cases as well due to which a loss Rs 88,400 was detected. This apart, disciplinary action has been initiated against the erring staff. Therefore, the Corporation has warned the travelling public to obtain valid ticket/pass while travelling on the Corporation buses.
