Over 1 lakh visit Krishi Mela on first day

Synopsis

Thunderous response was seen at the Krishi Mela at the GKVK campus, with over one lakh visitors on the first day. The number is expected to increase in the next 2 days. Around 700 stalls have been set up with more than 650 stalls taken up. On the second and third days the rest of the stalls will also be filled up. Various agricultural universities of the State, various departments of the government, agriculture engineering, agro-machinery and animal husbandry related stalls were crowded.

Thunderous response was seen at the Krishi Mela at the GKVK campus, with over one lakh visitors on the first day. The number is expected to increase in the second and third days, reported Kannada Prabha.

The main attraction of Krishi Mela is the agricultural products on display. Around 700 stalls have been set up with more than 650 stalls taken up. On the second and third days the rest of the stalls will also be filled up.

Various agricultural universities of the State, various departments of the government, agriculture engineering, agro-machinery and animal husbandry related stalls were seen crowded with visitors.

Various companies have put on display innovative farming practices, along with agriculture implements, machinery.  Rare breeds of sheep, goats, hen, rabbit and pigs are also on display. Demonstrations about improved breed of crops, rain water harvesting, organic farming were a huge attraction. Farmers and general public from all over the State are coming to see the Mela.

Also school and colleges students also visited. Many farmers expressed their interest in several of the displays and said they have taken the contacts of the organisers and would get in touch with them. Choudamma from Kolar said she was surprised at the hen on display and has decided to visit their farm.

Another farmer Shanmugappa from Chinakurali said he is interested in meeting the achievers in framing and also to acquire more knowledge about animal husbandry.  Ramakanth who has come from Bellary said he is a regular visitor to Krishi Mela. He said he always gets new information about improved framing systems and agro-machinery and implements.

The Kadaknath hen with black meat and black blood that was announced as the big attraction was not o display. The NGO that was to showcase it at the Mela could not participate in the last minute.
