No dress code in State temples, clarifies Muzrai Minister

Clarifying on the circular on dress code, Muzrai Minister Rudrappa Lamani said there is no dress code imposed at all temples in the State, except that devotees should wear appropriate, decent clothes. The Minister further explains that "We are not a rich country to impose dress code in temples as devotees come from all over the country and compulsory dress code puts them into difficult situation." Also in temples like Savadatti Yellamma, the devotees are poor and the trip itself is an effort for them. Hence devotees are advised to wear decent cloths at their convenience, without hurting religious sentiments of fellow devotees, the circular explains, reports Kannada Prabha.

 The circular also clearly states that temple authorities cannot impose dress code on devotees.

Muzrai Minister Rudrappa Lamani also addressed a press meet clearing rumours of State government taking over mutts and temples. The seer of Sonda mutt Swarnavalli Swamy had alleged that the State government is going to acquire mutts and temples. The Minister clarified that the government does not have the intention of acquiring any mutt or temple. He also asked Sonda Swarnavalli Swamy to immediately contact the government in case somebody has threatened him with this rumour. He also assured that he would talk to the Swamy and clarify the doubt.
