In the wake of rising street dog menace and the public complaints, Mayor Sampat Raj has issued an order to BBMP officers to compulsorily fit neutered street dogs with micro-chips, reports Kannada Prabha.
Mayor conducted a progress review meeting of Rajarajeshwari Nagar zone officers at the BBMP Central office on Tuesday. When he informed the meeting about the complaints of street dog menace that he has been receiving, the officials replied that they are neutering the street dogs at regular intervals. Responding to this, Mayor suggested that all street dogs that are neutered must be fitted with a micro-chip which will help regulate the number of dogs neutered and their movement, he said.
The micro-chip that gives an ID to the dogs is a liquid injected into its throat. After it is injected within 30 seconds it converts into solid micro-chip. Such IDs permit dogs to be tracked, said the officers of BBMP.
