A degree student from Mudigere allegedly committed suicide at her house in Mudigere, Chikkamagalur, Karnataka, on January 6. The police have got a death note that states the reason: alleged moral policing.

Speaking to Suvarna News, Chikkamagaluru Superintendent of Police, Annamalai, has said that "Dhanyashree was found dead in her home on Saturday (January 6). Suicide note says that some boys had barged inside Dhanya's home, harassed her and her mother since Dhanya was spotted speaking to a Muslim man. The boys had alleged that she was becoming a victim of Love Jihad."

In addition, a picture of WhatsApp chat where Mangaluru-based BJP Yuva Morcha member Santhosh has threatened Dhanya, has gone viral.

Currently, BJP Yuva Morcha member Anil, a close aide of BJP leader CT Ravi has been arrested in this regard.
